In internalising the spiritual values and blessings of the holy month of Ramadhan, the Ministry of Defence held a Sentuhan Kasih Ramadhan for 173 orphans. 115 of them were orphans from military families, while 58 were from civilian families. The ceremony was held at a hotel in Jerudong.

Present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence and Datin. Also present was Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. The ceremony began with the reading of Surah Yassin, Tahlil and Doa Arwah. Also held was the presentation of donations to the orphans and followed by the breaking of fast.
